The benefits to NASA will include:

• Understanding how life is affected by the various space and planetary environments beyond Earth?
• How does life adapt successfully beyond Earth over complete lifecycles and across multiple generations?
• Discovering the extent to which terrestrial life is planetbound
• What countermeasures are most effective in preventing deleterious adaptations?
• Characterizing the barriers and opportunities in living beyond Earth

Societal

BioBeyond will provide benefits to the public in numerous ways. Scientific understanding about biological processes that occur in space have will have broader applications, enabling medical advances on Earth, which in turn will also provide new market development opportunities to the commercial sector.

Just as BioBeyond spans spacecraft and environments, it will provide educational opportunities that span the full academic range from grade school through post-doctoral research. Virtual reality experiences where students and educators can interact with payloads and mission personnel will be emphasized.
